PONDICHERRY EMPLOYEE HOUSING WELFARE SOCIETY (PEHWS) is a non-governmental organization committed to building an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable society by improving the quality of life of individuals and communities, especially those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Founded with the belief that every person deserves access to basic opportunities and a dignified life, PEHWS works across key development sectors including affordable housing, education, agriculture, livelihood promotion, poverty alleviation, youth employment, and women’s empowerment. Through community-based approaches and collaborative partnerships, the Society strives to create long-term social impact and strengthen self-reliance among underserved populations.
Our work is driven by the vision of creating communities where every individual has equal access to opportunities for growth, social justice, and economic development. We focus on designing and implementing sustainable programmes that address local needs while promoting inclusive participation and community ownership.
PEHWS actively mobilizes resources, encourages innovation, and collaborates with government departments, civil society organizations, institutions, and local communities to deliver meaningful and measurable change. Special emphasis is given to empowering women, youth, rural communities, and marginalized sections, enabling them to become active contributors to social and economic progress.

The objective of the Society is to promote integrated and sustainable community development by improving access to affordable housing, strengthening agricultural, ensuring quality education, creating employment and livelihood opportunities for youth, empowering women, and reducing poverty.
The Society strives to build a self-reliant, inclusive, and equitable society where every individual has equal opportunities for growth, participation, and socio-economic development, enabling them to lead a life with dignity, security, and improved well-being.

Its mission is to achieve this through integrated development in the field of housing, agriculture, education, economy, poverty eradication, youth employment, and women’s empowerment by mobilizing resources, adopting innovative strategies, and fostering partnerships with government, civil society, and the community.

Through strategic planning, resource mobilization, and community participation, the Society seeks to create sustainable livelihoods, enhance social equity, and build a self-reliant and inclusive society.
